FAQs

  • Where does the money I donate go?

As we are based at the Zoological Society of London, our administration and office costs are covered. All of the money donated via our website goes directly to our conservation projects.

  • How can I give regular donations?

The easiest way to donate money to ALTA is via the PayPal button that you can find on every page. However, if you would like to contribute on a regular basis, please download and complete the ALTA standing order form, and return it to us at the address on the form.

  • Can I adopt a leopard or tiger?
At the moment we do not offer the opportunity to adopt a leopard or tiger but we are making plans to offer a scheme to adopt a wild leopard. There will be more news on this on our website and in our newsletters at a later date.
  • How can I get updates?

The best way to get up-to-date reports on our conservation activities is to sign up to receive our newsletter. You can do this by clicking on ‘Sign up for updates’ on any page. For frequent news headlines, you can become a fan of ALTA on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

  • What is ALTA?

ALTA (The Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance) is a coalition of 13 organisations who work together for the conservation of Amur leopards and tigers in the wild. It is co-ordinated by the Zoological Society of London. You can read more about ALTA in the ‘About ALTA’ section.

  • How is ALTA helping the Amur leopard?

You can find out about all our projects in our ‘Projects in the wild’ section.

  • How do I contact ALTA?

Use the ‘Contact us’ link that can be found on every page.

  • Are there plans to reintroduce Amur leopards into the wild?

There are plans to reintroduce Amur leopards from the captive population in order to establish a second population in the leopards’ historic range in Russia. You can read more about this in the ‘Prospects for the future’ section.

  • How can I get more information about Amur leopards?

If you have looked through our website and still require additional information, take a look at our ‘Resources’ page where you can download several documents on Amur conservation. The ‘Amur leopard information source sheet’ has many links to further information. If you still have unanswered questions, use the ‘Contact us’ form to get in touch.

  • Can I use the photos on this website?

You may use our photos for non-commercial use (i.e. where you will not make a profit). For details on terms and conditions of using our photos, including commercial use, please click here.

  • Does ALTA offer internships/work experience?

There are occasional internship placements available at the ZSL office based in London. We do not offer any placements to the field sites in Russia. Please contact us if you would like any further information.
